Warm Weather Staple: Linen Shorts
With summer now in full swing here in the desert, I’m bringing out all my favorite warm weather pieces. We have the classics like cotton tanks, silky camisoles, spaghetti strap dresses and of course denim cut offs. But in recent years, I’ve been looking for an even more comfortable yet stylish option for bottoms. Enter linen shorts.
It was only last year when I purchased my first pair, but my summer style hasn’t been the same since. The breathable fabric keeps me cool and comfortable on hot days (read: 110+ degrees) while still feeling put together. With linen shorts, there’s no problem staying chic in the heat!
How To Style
The options are nearly endless when it comes to styling a pair of linen shorts. Since it’s a more relaxed fabric that wrinkles easily, my advice is to keep the same easygoing feel on top, whether that through the fabric, the cut or both.
- Fitted Top: A fitted tank, halter or tee helps to balance out the volume of the shorts and offers a more feminine silhouette.
- Silky Camisole: The contrast of these fabrics work well together because while the linen is rougher, the silk is just as malleable and falls effortlessly.
- Oversized Button Up: Embrace the matching set trend and pair the shorts with a linen or soft cotton button up in the same colorway.
I’m also loving throwing these over a swimsuit with a matching linen button up for the pool or beach.
